Energy Savings
We're going further to make sure you're saving more. Regency Homes uses the advanced principles of Environments for Living® – premier energy-efficient guidelines for new home construction that allow us to guarantee in writing a 50% savings on your heating and cooling costs. Plus, all Regency homes are Energy Star Certified.
Environments for Living®
Environments for Living® standards enable you to save 50% on your heating and cooling costs. In a Regency Environments for Living® home, a monthly utility bill of $387 could be reduced to just $194. That's a savings of thousands of dollars each year.
Our advanced Environments for Living® program focuses on seven key areas of your new home:
- 1. Tight Construction
Special framing techniques used in conjunction with improved insulation systems eliminate most construction voids, reducing internal leakage and drafts in your home.
2. Fresh Air Ventilation
Fresh air is efficiently delivered and filtered to help create an environment that contains less dust, fewer odors and remarkably comfortable temperatures.
3. Improved Thermal Systems
Focusing more attention on insulation and framing techniques helps minimize voids, gaps and compressions. Low-E* glass and higher thermal properties (R-Value) can also help contribute to increased energy efficiency.
4. "Right-Sized"** HVAC Equipment
Using high efficiency equipment, multiple air ducts and return air grills help circulate fresh air ventilation, decrease humidity and reduce energy use.
5. Pressure Balancing
Return air ducts, transfer grilles or jumper ducts help balance pressure throughout the home, enabling air to circulate more easily – even when interior doors are closed.
6. Interior Moisture Management
Using "right-sized"** HVAC systems, multiple air ducts, return air grilles, bathroom and kitchen fans, and mechanical air ventilation helps to remove moisture that naturally passes through the home.
7. Combustion Safety
Combustion appliances are sealed or power-vented to help avoid back drafting and the build-up of carbon monoxide. CO detectors also help protect your home and family.
*This is a feature of the Gold and Platinum levels.
**"Right-Sized" refers to the process of determining which HVAC system should be used in any
particular structure.
Energy Star
ENERGY STAR certified homes are at least 15% more energy efficient than homes built to the 2004 International Residential Code (IRC), and include additional energy-saving features that typically make them 20–30% more efficient than standard homes.
Regency Homes' commitment to Environments for Living® standards means that we meet those same ENERGY STAR mandates, but go even further – with more stringent guidelines – to save homeowners more.
A Regency Homes Environments for Living® home exceeds the rigorous Energy Star Certified standards through a combination of energy-efficient products, including:
- • Low-E Windows
• R-42 Ceiling Insulation
• Electronic Programmable Thermostats
• Sealed Duct Work
• 90%+ Efficient Furnace
• Insulated Garage Doors
