Floors
Because of the wide variety of types and styles of floor coverings used in homes, we recommend you obtain literature from your floor covering provider on proper care and maintenance of your new floors. Below are general guidelines for types of floor coverings.
Wood
- • Sweep as needed; never damp mop
• Install proper floor protectors on all furniture placed on floor
• Provide proper humidity levels in home; moisture levels of 35%-55% are recommended
• Do not let anyone wear high-heeled stiletto shoes on the floor
• Non-skid rubber-backed rugs may stain or discolor floors
• Rearrange furniture periodically so floor ages evenly
• Keep pet’s nails trimmed to prevent scratches
• Place heavy appliances on a piece of wood underlayment instead of cardboard to prevent damage
Vinyl
- • Never slide appliances or furniture across the floor
• Non-skid rubber-backed rugs may stain or discolor floors
• Do not let anyone wear high-heeled stiletto shoes on the floor

Ceramic Tile
- • Sweep or vacuum when needed
• Use a mild detergent and warm water to clean
• Purchase grout sealant to put on the floor to prevent staining
• Expect slight separations to occur in the grout between lines; cracks in grout can be filled using premixed grout
• Do not let anyone wear high-heeled stiletto shoes on the floor
Carpet
- • Vacuum regularly
• Visible seams are not a defect
• Most carpets have stain resistors built into fabrics
• Professional cleaning with hot-water extraction is recommended every 12-18 months
